Let’s face it – Dads are hard to buy for. If yours is anything like mine, he already has everything he needs, and if he wants something, he usually just buys it for himself. What he wants and doesn’t buy – well, I can’t afford, unless I win the lottery between now and Father’s Day. To say that Father’s Day gifts can be a challenge is putting it mildly. What do you get for the man who has fixed your car in the middle of a snowstorm, taught you to swim, and quite literally is your version of a superhero? While all dads are not created equal, we found a few of our favorite items for the person in your life that you think of as your “Dad.”

  1.  A pair of Astral shoes. No matter if your dad is the “wear the same pair of shoes every day” dad or the “has his own shoe closet” dad, he will love a pair of Astrals. These may just be the best shoes on the market. He will appreciate the light, comfortable and versatile go anywhere style combined with the sticky, non-slip soles that will keep him sure-footed on any surface.  Starting at $85 -astraldesigns.com

  2. This passport wallet. For the traveling dad, this is something he would never buy for himself but will definitely use. Handmade per order, the Leather Passport Wallet made by The Mr. Lentz Shop looks like it costs a lot more than it does. The best part is, you can personalize it, and because it’s high-quality leather, it will just look better with age.  $54 - mrlentz.com

  3. The Hydroflask Coffee Mug. Of course your dad wants to save the planet, he’s your dad after all. Give him a head start by reducing his use of plastic this Father’s Day with a coffee mug that he can use every day. We love the Hydroflask version because of the array of bright colors and because it fits so well in your hand. It will soon become his favorite part of heading to work each day.  Don’t forget to add some cool stickers! 16 ounce $24.95 - hydroflask.com

  4. A subscription to True Fly Supply. If your dad loves to fly fish, then this subscription box is the perfect gift. It’s the only build your own subscription box, so you know that dad will get exactly what he wants every month. They have different levels of memberships, as well as a gift subscription option, so you can rest assured that there is a box for every budget. They also give $1 of every box to preserving the environment and organizations that strive to bring the sport of fly fishing to anglers in a positive way – it’s like giving two gifts at once. 5. Pocket Cocktails by Bar Country Cocktails. If dad likes a good cocktail on the trail or riverside, then this is going to whet his whistle. Bar Country Cocktails has come up with tasty little packets to make all of dad’s favorites by just adding water and spirits. Whether dad favors the Cherry-Infused Old Fashioned or the All Dressed Bloody Mary, there is a Pocket Cocktail waiting to be made. They even have variety kits available like the Adventure Kit, which plants 2 trees with every purchase. Starting at $9.99 - barcountrycocktails.com

  6. A Parks Project T-shirt. Remember when dad carted you around that national park like Clark Griswold? Show him you remember with one of these vintage-inspired shirts. Each shirt gives back to a project currently going on in that national park, like the Yellowstone shirt, which supports restoring and repairing Yellowstone’s heavily used network of trails, so they are protected and safe when you cart your own kids there. $28 - parksproject.us

  7. A colorful Wingo belt. As cliché as it sounds to give dad a belt or necktie for Father’s Day, a belt made by Wingo is one he will actually wear. Available in an array of fish skin patterns, you’re sure to find dad’s favorite game fish to remind him of his days on the water.  So forget the necktie, but consider the belt. 8. The Bullfrog BF100 Bluetooth Music System by Kicker. This waterproof music system may be small, but it’s powerful. If dad likes to jam to the oldies, there is no better way than this Bluetooth speaker. He will be carrying it everywhere, blasting his tunes and embarrassing you, just like he did when you were young. $149.95  - kicker.com

  10. A day on the water with Asheville Fly Fishing Company. There is no greater gift you can give dad than time well spent. Gifting your dad a day with you means more than you’ll ever know. One of our favorite floats is out of Asheville, NC with Galen Kipur of Asheville Fly Fishing Company. They say days are long and years are fast – make memories this year by spending time together on the water. $450 for a full-day float - ashevilleflyfishingco.com
